Wide Vercnocke makes graphic novels, illustrations, murals, posters,... and regularly performs during live drawing sessions.
In recent years, he released 4 books, Drieman (2020), Narwal (2016), Wildvlees (2014) and Mijn muze ligt in de zetel (2013), published by Bries and he collaborated with Stoomboot, Het Nieuwstedelijk, Bregje Hofstede, Muntpunt, De Standaard and Passa Porta and others.
With the character Lieslaarsman, which appeared for years in the urban magazine BRUZZ, Wide Vercnocke challenges, among other things, the toxic masculinity projected onto men in a patriarchal society. As the artist's alter-ego, the character portrays a subversive side with which it questions not only itself but also the status quo.
In his graphic novels, forms, people and animals transform and mutate; what is recognizable becomes disrupted. Observation of reality and research are mixed with daydreaming and fantasy, taking you, as a reader, into a poetic, unconventional and fluid world.
