On the occasion of the opening of his first solo exhibition in Belgium, internationally renowned artist and Pulitzer Prize winner Raven Chacon invites you to join him on a journey contemplating the stories landscapes hold. The exhibition Rift Variations: Collaborative Video Works includes the videoworks Gauge, 2013-2015; Rift Transcription, 2020 (i.c.w Candice Hopkins); Earth Mother / Father Sky, 2021 (i.c.w Rob Thorne); and Watȟéča :: Ch’iyáán Yiskáago, 2022 (i.c.w Cannupa Hanska Luger). Together, they are a testimony to the versatility of Chacon’s practice in which he incessantly pays tribute to mother Earth, questioning our position as human beings on this planet and our responsibility as stewards of the land. In his artist talk, Chacon will further dive into these works, giving an insight into his performative, musical and visual practice which is deeply steeped in collaboration.
