Lisa Vlaemminck (°1992, Brussels) explores the boundaries of painting in her dynamic oeuvre. In her images, she questions classic painterly phenomena, such as the landscape and the still life. Image, material, texture and form mutate into compositional playgrounds, from which Vlaemminck creates a new universe. Her world is one of excess, fluorescent colours and science fiction, in which microscopic observations are magnified to an astronomical scale.
Lisa Vlaemminck graduated from KASK Ghent in 2015. Since then, her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions at BOZAR (Brussels), The Hole (New York and Los Angeles), CIAP (Hasselt), M Leuven and the Triennale Brugge, among others. Work by Lisa Vlaemminck is included in the collection of M Leuven and the Foreign Affairs Collection.
