Jozef Wouters (BE, 1986) is a  scenographer, theatre maker and visual artist based in Brussels. His work is often related to a specific location and enters into dialogue with spaces, social processes and collective imagination. Starting from Decoratelier in Molenbeek, which he founded together with Menno Vandevelde, he initiates projects and interdisciplinary, artistic cooperation. “Space is tried out, discussions take place in wood, iron and cardboard. It’s a permanent place for constructive research for the ever changing spaces in which artists, thinkers and craftsmen meet each other.”

Each work is the result of conversation with others in which temporality, change and transition are embraced. Jozef Wouters is always looking for interspace; the phase from design/scale model and finished form/reality. Since 2017 he’s been an autonomous artist in residence and structurally belongs to Damaged Goods, the company founded by Meg Stuart.
