Effi & Amir (°1969, Ramat-Gan & Haifa), born and raised in Israel, have been working as a duo since 1999 and have been living in Brussels since 2005 from where they explore the freedom and misery of voluntary exile. After their training at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem, and the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam, they taught themselves, much later, how to make films. Their work uses audiovisual media, performance and participatory strategies, and straddles the hazy territory between documentary and fiction. It examines construction mechanisms of identity, history and of the artist as the ultimate 'other'. In addition to their own projects, Effi & Amir often collaborate with other artists, effect designers and animators. Their work was recently awarded the Moving Image Prize at Les Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin 2022.
