Brahim Talls (°1993, BE) practice focuses on various forms of identity and body research. In film, photography, performance and installation, he explores themes such as the representation of the black body, the role of images in (de)colonisation and the interplay between individual and collective identity.

In this artist talk, Tall shares his work, inspiration and presents ‘Tukuleur’: a short film that explores the search for identity as a person from a bicultural background and the representation of the black body. Hair, posture and skin colour shift, cross and alternate, creating a choreography of looks and poses based on representations from art history and pop culture. The film won the Wildcard of Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF) in 2022.
