Based in Kalmthout, Belgian artist Anton Cotteleer (°1974, BE) builds a layered and coherent oeuvre consisting mainly of sculptures. Cotteleer transforms human and animal forms and everyday elements from living rooms, such as a table, a banal sculpture or a blanket into alienating objects. Cotteleer is interested in disrupting our relationship to these domestic objects and to the vision of life that lies behind them. In his practice, he tries to draw attention to the absurdness, the strangeness, sometimes stuffiness of certain things and highlight them in a different way.
