Anne Ausloos

SLAC

Anne Ausloos (°1954, Antwerp) is a Belgian artist. Her work is non-conformist – her material may be clay, but she is not a ceramist as such. Ausloos is foremost a researcher – she explores the different and unpredictable qualities and reactions of clay, applies scientific processes, and documents the results of her work in visuals that are often esthetically astonishing. Her projects emerge from processes and usually do not result in objects, but in temporary works or installations. Anne Ausloos recently pulverized all the ceramic work she created between 1977 and 2018 to reintegrate it into the geological cycle from which clay originates. During the lecture, she will highlight some fragments within the immense amount of debris and make correlations between natural systems and processes she herself initiated and studied.
